More than 300 000 citizens of Georgia have used visa-free regime opportunity with EU since March 28, 2017 to travel to Schengen zone countries.
When appraising results of association agreement with EU, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani noted that since the association agreement signature Georgia has received financial assistance of about 400 million EUR for implementing reforms in various fields, as determined by the association agreement.
Since June 27, 2014 Georgia has made certain progress for harmonization with EU in terms of legal and institutional aspects. Georgia has joined European Energy Community and launched strategic dialogue on security issues. According to the Foreign Minister, at this stage Georgia is starting project for harmonization with EU on sectoral level.
“We are starting an entirely new format that will consecutively promote Georgia’s sectoral integration with EU. This will be a new format, under which meetings will be held under the guidance of Prime Minster and EU President. This meeting will be held once a week to provide supervision on intensification of cooperation in priority fields”, Zalkaliani noted.
