Government not to be Involved in a Dispute over Rustavi 2

The Prime Minister of Georgia says he supports restoration of justice, though according to him, the dispute over the Rustavi 2 TV company is a private matter and governmental involvement in it is zero.

According to him, he does not have any information on the matter except for what was published yesterday about businessman Kibar Khalvashi filing a lawsuit in court. “The most important thing for me is development of free media. I think it is plain for all to see that for these three years we helped to develop the media as much as we could and today it is absolutely free. Things would not have gone that way if we had any other intentions.

As for this very dispute, I can only say that I, as a citizen and as prime minister, support restoration of justice generally, though this particular case is a dispute between two private parties and the government’s involvement in it is zero,” Garibashvili explained.
