Germany will Build Energy Terminal to Reduce Dependence on Russia

‘We cannot suspend cooperation with Russia in the field of oil and gas”, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel noted at her meeting with Georgian Students at Tbilisi State University. Today, Russia supplies cheaper natural gas compared to other countries, Merkel said.

“We keep economic relations with Russia for tens of years. Part of NordStream gas pipeline will be located in Russia. Moreover, we plan to build the so-called Energy Terminal to reduce energy dependence on Russia. We receive natural gas from Great Britain, Russia, Norway. All these components cannot be replaced by NordStream radically. Ukraine will remain a transit country. We will follow common European interests”, Merkel said.
