Georgian Writers at The International Literature Festival lit.RUHR

The international literature festival lit.RUHR will take place for the second time from the 9th to the 14th of October 2018. For a total of 79 events on six festival days, German and international authors will be coming to Villa Hügel in the Ruhrgebiet.

Georgia, the most progressive Caucasus republic, is one of the oldest cultural landscapes in the world and has a lively cultural scene. Three border crossers between East and West, tradition and modernity are guests at lit.RUHR and Villa Hügel: director Nana Ekvtimishvili makes films in Berlin and owns ice cream parlours in Tbilisi. Her novel debut Das Birnenfeld gives the rebellious women and girls of Georgia a voice.

Davit Gabunia translated Harry Potter and Shakespeare, among others, into Georgian. His novel Farben der Nacht tells a dramatic marriage story against the background of a society that does not want to succeed in reconciling past and future. The photographer, director, actor and nature guide Archil Kikodze reflects in Der Südelefant on old and new struggles, changing places and life.

On the 13th of October 2018 at 7.30 pm Nana Ekvtimishvili, Davit Gabunia and Archil Kikodze will talk about Georgia.
