Georgian Judoist Gains First Olympic Gold at European Youth Olympic Festival

Georgian native Robinson Beglarishvili has become a champion of the European Youth Olympic Games in judo.

Robinson won in the 60 kgs category against the Italian Manuel Lombardo, thus gaining the first Golden medal within the Games. “The Georgian sportsman’s advantage could be seen from the very first seconds of the match,” writes the European Youth Olympic Festival’s official website

Beglarishvili won against Lombardo on the second minute of the match.

“I didn’t expect such encouragement from the audience. I was very pleased to get such feedback from the audience. I had a very strong opponent, but still was able to win the match,” Robinson told the media.
