Procedures for grating residence permits in Georgia to foreign citizens will be tightened. The parliament will discuss legal amendments by second hearing, under which foreign citizens will be requested to provide real estate and investments of more value, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
“Under the project, instead of 35 000 GEL, foreign citizens will be requested to provide 100 000 USD real estate to obtain residence permits. Moreover, foreign citizens will not be able to obtain residence permits by the same real estate. Currently, permanent residence permits are issued for 300 000 GEL investments, but this amount will increase to 300 000 USD and 5-year residence permits will be requested”, Kaladze told the news conference on November 7.
Georgian citizens finance a number of infrastructural projects. Huge efforts are taken in terms of security, he said.
“All these projects are financed by hospitable citizens of Georgia and this infrastructure should be secured. Foreign citizens who want to enjoy these opportunities and want to reside in Georgia, will have to provide due contribution”, Kaladze said.
Georgia is a hospitable country and we welcome all guests, however, residence permit issues should be resolved, Kaladze noted.
“The potential of our guests should be regulated properly so as to balance right of residents, those wishing to live here and our citizens”, Kakha Kaladze noted.
