Bins for waste separation have been placed in Tbilisi. Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Maia Bitadze got familiarized with the working process at Tamarashvili Street in Vake district. Pursuant to her, each residual that will be placed in this stands will be processed as a secondary product.
“It is very important that each residual that will get in this stand will be processed as a secondary product, which is an integral part of the united governmental “green policy “. We think that this is a new era of economic development and for creation of new working places and on the other hand it is very important that this process will fully minimize waste “, – stated Maia Bitadze.
Bins for waste separation were placed at 13 places within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Tbilisi City Hall, Tbilservice Group, Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) and Georgian Waste Management Association. In particular, these places are: Vake District Administration Body, Nadzaladevi District Administration, 31 Public School, First building of Tbilisi State University, Isani District Administration, Metro “University”, “Expo Georgia”, – Mikheil Tamarashvili str. # 10a; 6th building of the Technical University; Medical University; Lisi Lake; 10th building of TSU; 62rd Public School.
The Memorandum among Tbilisi City Hall, Tbilservice Group, Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) and Wastes Management Association of Georgia signed on 1 August 2018, envisages cooperation between public and private sector and civil sector within the framework of the City Hall project, which commenced in September 2018 and aims at gradual introduction of waste separation system in the capital pursuant to the Law of Georgia on “Waste Management Code”, as well as promotion of waste reuse and recycling. The Memorandum is based on the “Waste Management Code” and the National Waste Management Strategy.
