Batumi Heats Up with Sanremo Stars’ Weekend

Everyone’s favorite Italian singer Umberto Tozzi and the near-legendary Ricchi e Poveri graced the newly constructed stage on the Batumi Tennis Courts with their hit songs.

Heat Batumi 2015” moved to an active phase last weekend as 17th to 19th of July saw the Sanremo Stars’ days. The concerts were led by David Gomarteli, who by no mere coincidence is a lover of all things Italy, starting from the language and cuisine and ending with the music. This made him the perfect host for the weekend events.

As for the foreign performers, Umberto Tozzi is a well-known Italian singer who covers pop, rock, and various other genres, plays the keyboard and guitar, and writes, composes, and produces songs. It’s important to note that Heat Batumi 2015 marked Umberto’s first time visiting Georgia, which left him quite pleased.

Ricchi e Poveri is an Italian pop singing group. They have recorded both in Italian and Spanish and the group had some of the most popular Italian songs of the 1980s and 1990s, including “Mamma Maria”, “Se m’innamoro”, “Made in Italy”, “M’innamoro di te” and many others.

“Spaghetti Swing Band” led up to the weekend, with a performance on July 17th. Other past events in frames of the Heat Batumi project include the dazzling week-long Georgian folk art celebration that kicked off Heat Batumi on July 6th, followed by a week of contemporary singers and artists like Vanilla Cage and the Black Sea Band.

The 60 days of Heat Batumi will, overall, cover over 200 events hosting 259 foreign artists from over 20 countries. With up to 2000 participants overall, Heat Batumi will be split into 11 thematic weeks, with each and every one of them having a unique topic and artistic accent. Heat Batumi is suitable for people of all ages and allows visitors to plan their vacation based on what they wish to see most. There’s fun going down all day-round.
