92.7% of Population Use Internet for Communication in Social Networks

92.7% of population mainly apply the Internet for social networks. The respective information was published by Geostat, the national statistics service of Georgia.

According to the June report, access to new information (64.7%), reading and sending emails (58.5%), audio-video connection via Internet (55.5%) are main factors for use the Internet.

At the same time, the level of use of Internet for social networks is higher in villages. 96.8% of village residents use Internet to communicate in social networks, while in urban areas the figure makes up 91%.

As to age categories, over the past 3 months the 15-29 age category was using the Internet most frequently (89.5% of this category). In the 6-14 age category, 74.6% was using the Internet and the last place was recorded for the age category over 60 years old (15.1%).

According to Geostat, 43.4% are using Internet in villages. The figure makes up 70.4% in cities.
