Three international awards were added to the “Scary Mother” prizes of Anna Urushadze’s debut work.
The film was awarded at 3 Film Festival simultaneously:
Top Golden Gate Prize for the Best Full-Screen Film at the San Francisco International Film Festival;
International Film Critics Award at FIPRESCI European Film Festival;
Award for Best Debut at the International Film Festival Med Cinema Festival of Tetouan;
“Scary Mother” is Ana Urushadze’s debut feature, which was created with the support of the National Film Center, and won several important international prizes, including the Golden Leopard at Locarno Film Festival, Grand Prix at Sarajevo Film Festival and 2 Asian Oscars at Asia Pacific Screen Awards. “Scary Mother” was last year’s Georgian candidate film at Academy Awards.
Film is about prohibition and stereotypes, moral norms and social responsibilities.The film depicts the life of a 50-year-old man, mother and housewife facing dilemma, chooses to make a choice between family life and long-lasting passion.
