29 000 Foreigner Students Came to Georgia for Studying in 2015-2018

28 940 foreign students had been studying in Georgia in 2015-2018, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Georgia reports.

The number of foreign students increases each year. In particular, 4,912 students studied in Georgia in 2015, 5,716 – in 2016, 8,602 – in 2017 and 9,710 – in 2018-2019.

Most students studying in Georgia are from India. 1,072 students arrived from India in 2015 and in 2018 this figure increased to 5,008, while in 2015-18 the number of students from India reached 10 428.

Students come to Georgia for studies from other countries as well, 8,439 arrived from Azerbaijan in 2015-18, 2,299 – from Iraq, 1422 – from Turkey, 1895 – from Nigeria, 1183 – from Russia, 742 – from Iran – and 433 – from Syria.

The number of students from the United States and European countries is low.
