Russian and Georgian Wrestlers Disqualified in 2016 European Cup of Nations

Russian and Georgian wrestlers broke into a fist-fight at the 2016 European Cup of Nations, resulting in the disqualification of both wrestlers.

Imil Sharafetdinov, a Russian wrestler, and Zurab Datunashvili, a Georgia wrestler, competed in an emotional match which escalated into an altercation.

The coaches of the Georgian and Russian wrestlers, along with several fans watching the match, joined the fight.

Gogi Goguashvili, head coach of the national Russian wrestling team and former Georgian wrestler, commented, “The guys just failed to cope with their emotions, but they swiftly calmed themselves down and were shaking hands several minutes afterward.”
