World Bank: We Hope Georgia will Eliminate Poverty in 10 Years

World Bank (WB) hopes that in 10 years Georgia will eliminate poverty. WB regional director Mercy Tembon noted that reforms will foster overcoming poverty in the country.

“Georgia is trying to overcome poverty. As a result, poverty level is reducing. Several years ago the poverty level was 15%. The figure has dropped to 13% now. We hope in 10 years poverty level will be zeroed in Georgia. We do not want to see poor people in Georgia. All ongoing reforms are to leave as much money into citizens’ wallet as possible.

The private sector is to create new job places. People should not depend on external factors. I would suggest Georgian people to be self-confident, while private sector should continue making investments”, Merci Tembon said.
