Wizz Air Airline to Unveil Region’s First Base at Kutaisi Airport

Union of Georgian Airports of the Ministry of Economy and Wizz Air Hungarian airline have reached agreement to unveil a Wizz Air base at the Kutaisi David Aghmashenebli International Airport in 2016.

After successful completion of the multiyear negotiations, Wizz Air, the central and eastern Europe’s biggest low-cost airline will place one airplane at Kutaisi International Airport on permanent basis.

The airline owns 23 bases all over the world and the 24th one will open in Georgia in the near future, the first regional base of Wizz Air in the South Caucasus.

Wizz Air Hungarian company launched flights from Kutaisi International Airport in 2012. After the inauguration of the Region’s first base, the Kutaisi airport will be the first regional airport with a base of a low-cost airline. TAHis project will increase passenger turnover and develop new directions and destinations.

On February 19, 2016 Wizz Air director Joseph Ward will visit Georgia. As part of his visit, additional information regarding the base and the future plans will be unveiled.
