Wine Export is Increased by 42 Percent in Georgia

Wine export keeps growing dynamic. According to National Wine Agency, as of August, 2016, 28 156 547 bottles (0,75 l) of wine are exported from Georgia to 46 countries, which exceeds by 42% comparing to the same period of the previous year.

Total value of the exported wine amounts to 64,8 million USD, growth totals to 16%. The Agency notes, that export growth is noted with the EU countries, as well as China and other traditional markets:

  • China – 184% (3 368 361)
  • Ukraine – 75% (3 042 192)
  • Belarus – 47% (667 656)
  • Russia – 45% (14 664 610)
  • Poland – 34% (1 367 960)
  • Estonia – 39% (413 364)
  • Kyrgyzstan – 107% (163 966)
  • USA – 10% (171 316)
  • Japan – 12% (101 448)
  • UK – 65% (67 522)
  • Latvia, 9% (772 926 )

To note, China has moved from the 3rd position to the 2nd in the top-5 of Georgian wine exporter countries in August of this year.

Top-5 of exporter countries are as follows: Russia (14 664 610), China (3 368 361), Ukraine (3 042 192), Kazakhstan (2 287 826 bottles) and Poland (1 367 960).
