Who will Benefit More from the China-Georgia Free Trade Agreement?

Tbilisi and Beijing have launched negotiations on establishing a free-trade regime between the two countries.

Some experts have already expressed their view that China will benefit much more from the free trade agreement with Georgia.

However Mariam Gabunia from the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade and International Economic Relations Department told Commersant that Georgia will benefit more as a result of free trade and the abolition of taxes with China.

According to her, China’s customs and import taxes are higher than Georgia’s, while the customs fees are as low as 5% to 12% of the GDP.
