Waste Separation Corner was Opened at the Ministry of Environment Protection

The corner of the waste separation has been opened at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Georgia.

This is the second corner of the waste separation in Tbilisi. The first one is operating in Dighomi branch of hypermarket “Goodwill”. The separation corner was opened with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the program helps the government to fulfill the requirements of the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union, at the same time it will contribute development of sustainable economy in the country and damages caused by waste on human health and natural resources.

The WMTR II program is implemented in three regions of Georgia – Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Adjara and Tbilisi in four directions: implementation of integrated waste management system; Development of waste processing private sector; Fines for illegal disposal of waste and tariff policy; Inform the public and raise awareness.

The WMTR II program is implemented by the CENN with the support of USAID.
