As of 2016, 51% of the population regards development of agriculture sector as the most essential for Georgian economy, – International Transparency Georgia declares relaying on a new research and considers that this approach is problematic.
However, 23% of the population considers that development of manufacturing, enterprises and plants is the most important for country’s economy, while 9% – accounts for tourism sector. In addition, 17% of population want to be employed in agriculture, 11% – manufacturing industry, 9% – tourism sector.
“It should be noted, that agriculture sector does not have a main role in the economy of the developed countries and in general, development of this sphere is basically dependent on the advanced technologies and not men. Due to this opining, government takes motivated decision for the elections and spends finances unaffectedly in the agriculture in order to gain hearts of voters. This fact significantly hampers economic development and living level of us”, – the organization notes.
According to their assessment, if agriculture is not priory for the population, the state will spent less to this direction, from which the return is very low. Moreover, it should be noted, that 83% of the self-employees is employed in the agriculture, which amounts to almost half of the total employees – 48%, while the GDP share totals to 9.2$ in the country’s whole GDP.
