The Anaklia Consortium will Sign an Agreement with SSA Marine on Anaklia Port Operation

The Anaklia Development Consortium and the American company SSA Marine will sign an agreement to operate the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.

 

Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili will attend the signing ceremony at the State Chancellery. The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with founders of Anaklia Port Terminal-Operator, Vice President of SSA Marine and Anaklia Development Consortium. There will be discussed US and Georgian economic relations and plans for Anaklia Port.

SSA Marine was selected as Anaklia Port Terminal-Operator by Anaklia Development Consortium in June 2017.  SSA Marine is the second largest American company that implements a significant investment in the construction and development of Anaklia port after the Conte Group.

One of the largest operators in the world, the SSA Marine operates over 250 strategic terminals and serves 27.2 million containers (TEU) annually.

Implementation of the Anaklia Deep Water Port Project started in 2016. It will be built on the territory of 340 hectares, near Anaklia. Port construction and development cost is 2.5 billion US dollars.

Anaklia port will be built in several stages, comprising 9 phases, and eventually its capacity will reach 100 million tons a year. The project will create thousands of new workplace in Georgia.

City Anaklia is considered as “City of Future” based on the principles of green economy.

The opening of the first phase of the port and receiving first ships is planned  by the end of 2020/2021.
