At the 11th international Caspian Energy Award Georgia 2014 prize presentation ceremony held within the framework of the Caspian Energy Forum-2014, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili received Caspian Energy Award in the “For contributing to the development of the Georgia-Azerbaijan relations” nomination.
“First of all let me thank you for giving me this wonderful prize. I just want to stop for a minute that this is not only very honorable to get the prize like this but it is also a masterpiece which you can enjoy and you can see that there are lots of symbols on this prize. It has the image of oil-spring and five countries linked with a single destiny and united around the Caspian Sea”, President Giorgi Margvelashvili stated at the 11th international Caspian Energy Award Georgia 2014 prize presentation ceremony.
In his speech, the head of state of Georgia noted: “For sure it is a great honor to be a part of this very important process that is bringing peace, prosperity and partnership around the Caucasus. This process is linked to a very important economic process that is running in the Caspian and giving possibilities, opportunities and future perspectives to many nations around the world. I remember in May of this year I had personal meetings with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and also with President of Turkey. Together we decided to organize a summit in Tbilisi and make this summit a stable yearly event where we will be talking about projects that we can develop in the Caucasus together. This summit happened in May and I would say that we were very impressed when we saw all the possibilities and all the opportunities that are lying in our region and it helps to create formats of engagement, formats of business partnerships, formats of partnership of different nations in this global process. But when we are talking about these great opportunities, for sure we first of all have to thank the people that were engaged in the beginning of this process. It was initiated by leaders of Georgia and Azerbaijan. We have to thank and remember Mr. Geydar Aliyev who passed away, Mr. Shevarnadze who passed away, and these people who laid opportunities in our region. Now we have to continue this great process and I feel completely confident that friendship, understanding, joint vision of what we have to do with our region that unites me and Ilham Aliyev is going to be very important not only for our countries but for other countries around the world. When we were talking about projects that we are developing, we were talking about Azerbaijan, Georgian, Turkish partnerships.
The great projects that are already developed and that are under construction now. The TAP project that brings great opportunities for the development of our region including Turkey. The TANAP project which can bring great opportunities for development of Europe and providing energy security and diversity for Europe. We were talking about the railway, highway projects and other projects that we are developing together. So let me once more underline and specifically concentrate on great Georgia and Azerbaijan partnership.”
Further, President Giorgi Margvelashvili noted that “this partnership is not only economic and is not only linked with energy and energy related projects.”
“This partnership is linked with mutual understanding, with mutual respect, respect of each others’ culture, respect with the way we look at life, respect with the perspective of making Caucasus a very stable and developing region.
You are a great example of this partnership. Let me thank you for being here today, for working for future of our nations, for working for the development of our region and let me once more congratulate and thank you for engaging me in this wonderful event. I want to thank the organizers for a brilliantly organized forum and for a very well organized event and want to congratulate you all again”, President Giorgi Margvelashvili resumed.
