Tbilisi-Batumi Highway Project Reduces Travel time By 1 Hour

Head of Georgian Railways together with economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili visited main line of Tbilisi-Makhinjauri railway, where modernization project takes places.

“Today, we have finished building of the second tunnel, in the frames of railway modernization project. Georgian government has granted the implementation of the project, which aims to increase bandwidth of Khasuri-Zestaponi section. This project is significant for the development of Anaklia deep sea water, so commission date of this project is directly related to completion of Anaklia port, which is planned to finish in 2019,” Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

“With this project travel time from Tbilisi to Black Sea resorts will be reduced by one hour,” Bakhtadze added.
