A new bridge will be constructed on the Mtkvari river in Mtskheta, by order of the Roads Department.
The construction project of 363 440 GEL will be financed from the state budget.
The bridge fully meets architectural, aesthetic and historical requirements of the city museum and it will alleviate the road traffic.
The current bridge on the 6th kilometer of the Narekvavi-Mtskheta railway station was built in 1926. The bridge is an only way for monks and nuns to reach Samtavro Monastery and Church in Mtskheta. Moreover, the bridge also connects Mtskheta railway station with ZAHESI-Mtskheta-Kavtsikhevi-Gori-Kareli-Osiauri motorway.
The structure is located in the historic part of Mtskheta, nearby the Pompeius Bridge. Technical conditions of the existing bridge are unsatisfactory and unsafe.
