German International Cooperation Society GIZ will assist Georgia in preparation of the spatial – territorial planning document.
The agreement was signed between Ministry of Economy and GIZ on Thursday. The aim of the memorandum is to work out general scheme of spatial arrangement, development of spatial planning documents for Akhmeta and Tusheti, as well as 12 rural municipalities in line of the best international practice.
It should be noted, that such cooperation in the context of the spatial – territorial development is implanted for the first time. In this process, the German side will facilitate technical and financial assistance of the spatial arrangement projects; its implementation is in line of environmental requirements.
The grant agreement has been signed on co-financing. At the request of the Ministry, GIZ has allocated foreign and Georgian specialists, which will provide expert assistance to the Ministry.
To remind, Ministry of Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development continues selection process of international consortium in order to develop the spatial arrangement scheme. At the same time, the selected Georgian consortiums will elaborate spatial-territorial planning document of Mestia, Mulakhi community, Bakhmaro, Bakuriani resort and Ikalto.
