Remittances from Abroad to Georgia Continue to Trickle

According to the Statistics Service, the volume of remittances from abroad to Georgia decreased by 35.1% in August 2015.  In the same period of 2014, remittances amounted to $84.4 million, that is $45.7 million less.

Twelve largest partner countries account for 89.4% of the total volume of transfers from which at least $1 million is transferred monthly. In August of last year, these twelve countries accounted for 93.1% of the total money transfers to Georgia.

In August 2015, $12.5 million was transferred abroad from Georgia, whereas in the same period of 2014 – $ 14.6 million.
