Prime Minister Calls on Law Enforcers to Control the Situation in Kakheti

Today, companies have unsold products and wine stocks which they cannot sell, therefore, they are not  able to pay higher prices for grapes. The Prime Minister of Georgia said at today’s government session.

The companies paid more in the previous years  because the reality and the possibilities of the market were different. The subsidy from the state amounted to 35 tetri  for white grapes and 15 tetri –for  red ones, nothing has changed today , just the companies have unsold  products, wine reserves they cannot sell as  wine exports have decreased by 60% due to  the serious crisis not only in Russia and Ukraine, but all over the world,” said the Prime Minister and appealed to politicians to give up provocations as  these actions are only directed against the state.

He says that he understands the honest farmers who do not have the information and are misleading. The Prime Minister called on the Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia and  other members of the Cabinet to provide people with as much information as possible. In  Prime Minister’s words, the subsidy which was carried out under the new government in agriculture, is unprecedented as  we are talking about  one  billion GEL. Prime Minister stressed that no other government was interested in this area as the current.

Prime Minister says nothing has changed from the government regarding grape subsidies, because the subsidy amount has remained the same as in previous years. According to him, the government is actively working on the opening of the Chinese market.
