The image of Georgia is growing and we expect the tourist inflows to grow in 2017, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili told the government meeting and updated the government members on the tourism sector growth indicators.

“The month of July has registered record figures – 764 022 international tourists arrived in Georgia, up 26 124 ones compared to the previous year. We are glad that the growth tendency is maintained with the EU countries to, along with neighboring countries.

According to the first quarter of 2016, revenues from the tourism sector made up 354.5 million USD, up 15.7% compared to the same period of 2015. I believe this is an important tendency. This signifies the revenues of all bodies involved in the Georgian tourism sector will increase, starting from guesthouese ending with major tourism complexes.

This tendency implies more employed people in Georgia and we believe this is a very important factor. I would like to thank the whole team, who has worked in this direction under the aegis of the Ministry of Economy, the tourism administration, the Ministry of culture. Thanks to these efforts taken by the Authorities, we e have attained these indicators and this is very good”, the Prime Minister said.

A new scheme based on the public and private partnership model will be introduced in autumn 2016. Giorgi Kvirikashvili expressed hopes that the tourist inflows growth tendency will go on in the future too.
