Parliament Adopts Amendments to Tobacco Control Law

Parliament of Georgia  approved a bill of amendments to Tobacco Control Law after Parliament members discussed the document by third hearing.

Starting January 1, 2018 tobacco products must be packed in simple boxes with photos of diseases caused by smoking. Pictograms must be also attached to cigarette boxes.

Starting May 1, 2018 smoking of e-cigarettes and chilim will be banned at all closed spaces, excluding residential apartments, mental hospitals, penitentiary facilities and casinos. Smoking will be admitted at special cigar bars after issuing a due license.

Moreover, starting May 1, 2018 advertising of tobacco products will be also banned.
