It was found that the influx of Azerbaijan students studying at Georgian Institutions of higher learning is the largest contingent of foreign students in Georgia compared to other nations.
From international students the most portion comes from Azerbaijan. Totally there were 6643 foreign students in 2015-2016 academic years. From them 3049 study at the State Universities, while the rest study at Private High Education Institutions. According to GeoStat, the data shows that more than 2300 Azerbaijan students are studying in Georgia. More than 700 comes from Iraq and more than 500 from Turkey.
There are around 1500 Indian students in Georgia, as well as more than 500 comes from Nigeria.
In addition about 250 Russian student study at Georgian Private high education Institutions. Whereas 200 comes from Sri Lanka, and more than 70 from Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that most of the foreign students who are doing their Bachelor (undergrduate) studies, acquire knowledge in Social Sciences, Business, and Law programs, whereas the students at Master level are on the health and social welfare programs.
