Local Apple to Replace Imported Product in Georgia

Alioni company consultant Archil Lobzhanidze says that the imported apples in Georgia will be replaced with local produce. As for him, the trend is clearly visible and is already affected the price.

If the wholesale price of imported apples was GEL 1.5 last year, this year it  has decreased and ranges within  GEL 70 – GEL 1.

The company Alion planted an apple garden on 20 hectares in Tsinandali from which  it harvested 600 tons harvest which was  sold in the local market. The apple seedlings were brought from Holland, the highest yield of the garden is 1000-1200 tons.

Archil Lobzhanidze notes that  in the next season the gardens harvest will increase to 700-800 tons. The company also plans to launch  apple processing in the future and produce vinegar.
