Iormuganlo village in Kkaheti region cultivated pistachio saplings, project is being implemented together with the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, “TR Georgia Project 2“ and “Aric Group”.
Revitalization of the pistachio is very important as its price on the international market exceeds the price of walnuts, hazelnuts and other nuts. Moreover, its market is more stable and the price rarely falls.
In the near future “TR Georgia Project 2“ და “Aric Group” plan to open nut and pistachio processing factory. Production will be sold at local as well as international stores. By 2020 cultivation will be fully finished.
Pistachio production could bring considerable economic profits to Georgia – it is the perfect plant for erosion control in drought areas meaning it can help prevent erosion in problematic regions of the country. Moreover, its fruit has great properties for health, pharmaceutical, and homeopathy purposes.
