The Government will lease a 79 980 square meter agricultural land plot in the village of Laituri, the Ozurgeti District, to Luka 2010 company as part of the Tea Plantations Rehabilitation State Program.
The Agriculture Projects Management Agency will co-finance 7% of rehabilitation works, as part of the program.
The company will introduce the Food Quality and Safety Management International System (HACCP).
The Government inaugurated the Georgian Tea program in 2016, under which legal entities receive financial support for rehabilitation of tea plantations, including agriculture cooperatives.
Co-financing component for rehabilitation of plantations are applied for privately-owned plantations:
For legal entities (excluding agriculture cooperatives) – 60% of value of rehabilitation works.
80% of value of rehabilitation works for agriculture cooperatives.
In the event of state-owned (leased) plantations:
– For legal bodies (excluding agriculture cooperatives)
-70% of value of rehabilitation works
-90% of the value of rehabilitation works for agriculture cooperatives.
