“We have adopted decision, which will restrict increase of K2 coefficient in the central part of Tbilisi. It will enable us to change bad practice of chaotic construction in the central and historical part of Tbilisi, as those districts are already densely populated”, – Davit Narmania, Mayor of Tbilisi has declared at the briefing on Friday.
According to him, Tbilisi Municipality makes concrete steps against chaotic and unregulated construction of the city. The amendments will be made to the regulations on Tbilisi Area Usage and Development and the document will be sent to the council for approval today.
Growth of K2 coefficient will be restricted before the work out of general plan for land use. According to Narmania, the final version of the plan will establish civilized rules of urbanization, which will allow the city government to regulate the chaotic construction.
As for other suburbs, temporary restriction will not concern to them in order to allow suburbs to develop. As Tbilisi Mayor has declared at today’s beefing, that the city government will encourage development of “green roofs” and terraces during construction of buildings in Tbilisi.
“The theme of “green roofs” should become active. Accordingly, the process of building green roofs and terraces will be encouraged by the city government in various forms. a uniform standard will be established for roofs,”- said Narmania.
According to him, other rules for regulating the city’s visual image will also be defined, which should be a preventive measure against the implementation of the chaotic construction.
