Government to Postpone Tobacco Packing Bill Enactment for 5 Years

The term for implementing legislative regulations for standardized packing of tobacco products will be postponed, namely: Government of Georgia will be obliged to reschedule an approval of tobacco products sales and packing standards for July 1, 2022, instead of July 1, 2017.

Under the changes, the 31st December of 2022 is considered to be the date of enactment of sales of tobacco products with standardized packing, instead of January 1, 2018.
Objective of the bill is to ensure additional evaluation of fiscal effect of new regulations regarding standard packing.
