Germany to use Georgian Corridor for Asian Cargo Transportation

German Railway Operator Deutsche Bahn will use Georgian Corridor for Asian cargo transportation.

The agreement between Georgian Railway and Deutsche Bahn has been signed on Thursday. Mamuka Bakhtadze, general director of “Georgian Railway” considers the agreement as essential, who has declared about it at the 64th  session of Administrative Council of 17 Countries. According to him, such big conference is held for the first time in Georgia through the last 10 years. Commercial and technical projects are among the discussing issues.

Several important agreements have been signed within the frame of the event, including formation of through tariffs in the Trans-Caspian Corridor. They have hope to attract additional cargo with competitive tariffs. Moreover, Georgian Railway has achieved the agreement with Kazakh side on preferential tariffs. Namely, special rates are enacted on oil and wheat transportation from Kazakhstan.
