Georgia’s Economy Minister on the Anti-dumping Law

Economy Minister Dmitry Kumsishvili said while answering a question that everyone should know that the anti-dumping law is not a panacea and  is intended to compete with imports.

In Kumsishvili’s words, a public hearing must be held on the issue. He believes that the antidumping law should be adopted  only after the public debate.

The Minister says that this law should be used only if the proven dumping cases are revealed in the country. The anti-dumping legislation prohibits the import of goods at a price below the accepted market price in Georgia, as very often such actions are aimed at the bankruptcy of local companies and weakening of competition in the market.
