”The project might be as large scale as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, “said Zviad Chumburidze, general secretary of the European Union-Georgia Business Council, a project under which Georgia could connect Europe with an underwater electric line.
As Chumburidze said at Business Morning, meetings have been held at the Ministry of Economy and government expressed positive attitude towards the project.
“It will be an international project and of course it’s not only Georgia, but Azerbaijan and Middle Asia countries, which makes it even more interesting and attractive. Project has a political context and Georgia should use every opportunity to get closet to Europe”- Chumburidze noted.
Irakli Tkebuchava, the Financial Director of Gross Energy Group, said that the pre- technical- economical study is already done and the basic document will be ready in half year.
“Despite the alternatives, we believe that connection should go through Black Sea to Romania or Bulgaria, it will be specifiend soon. We are an engineering-consulting company and we know the market problems, we need alternative ways of energy realization, and we believe that It is good time now. Estimate value of the project is 3 billion USD,”- said Irakli Tkebuchava.
