Georgian Agriculture Minister Attends IFAD Annual Meeting in Rome

The Georgian Agriculture Ministry delegation led by Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia is paying a working visit to Italy. Georgian Agriculture Minster Otar Danelia and Deputy Agriculture Minster Levan Davitashvili have taken part at the IFAD managing board’s meeting in Rome.

The IFAD managing board’s meeting is held every year with a participation of agriculture minister of the IFAD member countries.

Delegations from about 70 countries attended the 2016 meeting and discussed the agriculture sector sustainable development issues and national policy adjustment issues and the 2015 implemented projects.

The International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) has been implementing agriculture sector development promotion projects in Georgia since 1997.

The projects are to reduce poverty on regional level and improve the agriculture infrastructure. In 2016 IFAD launched 30.8 million USD project for growing revenues of small farmers, developing climate-efficient agriculture and chain of values.
