Russians Reduce Expenditures Abroad, Georgia Remains Among Their Priorities

Russians maximally reduced purchases by credit cards abroad in the first 5 months of this year, CitiBank’s annual report says, which is published by Reuters. 

“We have noted on such sharp drop of consumer assets abroad for the first time of our research history”, – Dmitry Kolovsk, representative of Citi-Russia declares.

Top 5 of the countries, where citizens of Russia were spending most of the money still includes the USA, Italy, the Great Britain, Finland, and France. However, tourists’ number is declined by 37% while operation volume carried out in local retail centers – by 50%.

According to CitiBank, Russians will spend 1.3 trillion rubles abroad in this year.

In addition, the number of purchases made in Russia will increase by 21% while Russian tourists’ priorities are Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Armenia.

As of the statistics of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, 342 416 Russian citizens have arrived in Georgia through January-June of this year. Russian got most active in May and June. Respectively, 71 400 and 89 429 visits have been made. The maximum of the year has been fixed in February and the figure has been defined by 33 396 visits.
