The Georgian government has decided to agree to the proposal of the Russian gas giant “Gazprom” and issue the contract on its terms – Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said.
“I want to emphasize that this agreement will not increase Georgia’s dependence on Russian energy as form of payment has changed only, which means the transition to a cash payment in lieu of payment with raw material, according to international practice,” – Kaladze said after the meeting.
“As for the cost of transit, it will be one of the highest among European countries”,- the Minister stressed. Kaladze noted that a two-year agreement will be formalized with “Gazprom”.
“The agreement is short-term but in the first year the raw material payment will partily remain. In case of need, if we need to obtain additional volumes, the price will be $ 215 instead of $ 185,”- said Kaladze.
Commenting on the meeting in Minsk, Kaladze called the proposal of “Gazprom” interesting noting that it is the last.
