Georgia Makes Significant Steps Enter EU Energy Union

Discussions concerning development of Georgian energy sector were continued at the meeting of Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Energy Union Marosh Shevchovich.

Prime Minister discussed ongoing energy sector-related investment projects with the Commissioner. The sides exchanges their visions regarding aspirations of Georgia to joining the Energy Union. During the meeting it was noted that Georgia is a reliable partner of the EU and has a potential to become a regional leader in terms of production of renewable energy.

Prime Minister and Vice-President of the European Commission also discussed projects of regional importance that aim at ensuring energy security and regional stability. The two-day visit to Brussels was finalized with the meeting with the Vice President of the Commission.
