“Problem with fuel quality mainly arise in unbranded filling stations”, Vano Mtvralashvili, head of the Union of Oil Importers told the Business Contact. The Environment Protection Ministry has already inspected about 10 oil importers, but no violations have been found, he said.
“About 10 companies have been examined. None of them was found to be violating fuel quality requirements determined by the government’s resolution”, Mtvralashvili said.
There are problems with fuel quality in the country, but main problems exist in unbranded filling stations. The monitoring process is continued and we actively cooperate with the Environment Protection Ministry, Vano Mtvralashvili said.
Unsatisfactory fuel quality already is considered to be one of the main air pollutants. To resolve the problem, the Ministry has already started fuel eco-marking project to foster growth in ecological clean fuels volume on the market.
