Filbert Exports Decline

In January-October 2018 Georgia’s filbert exports made up 45.800 million USD, down 19 million USD year on year.

According to Geostat, national statistics service of Georgia, in the first quarter of 2018, the filbert exports exceeded 18 million USD, in the second quarter the figure made up about 10 million USD and in the third quarter the figure amounted to 11.5 million USD.

As to October, revenues from the filbert exports constituted 6.2 million USD.

For comparison, in the first quarter of 2017, revenues from filbert exports made up 17 million USD, the second quarter – 12 million USD, the third quarter – 20 million USD and in October 2017 – 14.8 million USD.

It is noteworthy that the highest contraction in filbert exports was recorded in 2017 (-54%) and total revenues marked 83 million USD.

The contraction tendencies have pushed filbert and nuts to the 8th position from the second place in the list of major exports items.

Over the past years, the majority of filbert exports was carried out to Italy, Germany and Russia.
