The European Union Launches Rural Development Project in Akhalkalaki

The European Union continues supporting rural development in Georgia under ENPARD programme. On 19th of April, ENPARD partner organisation, Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) will officially launch a new rural development project in Akhalkalaki.

The launching event will take place from 13:30 to 16:00 pm., Charents Str. 11/1, Akhalkalaki (in front of Cinema and Theatre of Akhalkalaki).

Opening speeches will be delivered by Ekaterine Zviadadze, Head of Policy-Analysis Department, Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, Alvaro Ortega Aparicio, Attaché, Programme Manager for Environment and Rural Development, EU Delegation to Georgia, Nana Kashakashvili, Head of Georgian Rural Development Department of GIPA, ENPARD implementing organization, and representatives of local government.

The project launch will be attended by senior representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Ministry of Agriculture, Akhalkalaki local authority, private and civil society sectors.

The EU-funded project “Promoting a New Rural Development Approach in Akhalkalaki” is implemented by Georgian Rural Development Department of Georgian Institute of Public Affairs in partnership with Mercy Corps, Elva Community Engagement and West Cork Development Partnership. The project aims to promote a bottom-up, inclusive rural development approach in Akhalkalaki that fully engages all communities in the municipality and specifically women and youth.
