European Union to Assist Georgian Entrepreneurs in Developing Clusters

With the support of EU and GIZ, a Georgian furniture cluster was established recently.

The cluster unites 25 furniture manufacturing companies. The director of projects department of EU representation in Georgia told the Business Course that Georgia’s first cluster has been created as part of the project for promoting small and medium businesses in the country.

Besides the furniture cluster, textile, movie production and IT clusters will be also created in Georgia, Vincent Rey said.
“Initially, we have selected the furniture sector, because furniture manufacturing companies already operate in Avchala and they needed assistance in enhancement of cooperation. We have assisted them in this direction and connected them with foreign specialists and shared German and Bulgarian experience to them. Besides the furniture cluster, we also plan to develop textile and IT clusters too”, Vincent Rey said.

Since 2009, EU has provided assistance to more than 63 000 small and medium entrepreneurs in Georgia.
