EU helps Covenant Signatories Get Better Access to Energy Data

The EU-funded Data4Action project has developed a comprehensive guide to facilitate access to data for Sustainable Energy Action Plans. The project is improving data exchange between public authorities and energy data providers.

The data access guide was developed to help Covenant signatories get better access to local, accurate energy data within their territory and also for energy planning facilitators wishing to support the development of innovative collaboration between cities and data providers, for example regional data centres and energy observatories.

Comprehensive, accurate local energy data is crucial for local authorities to develop targeted climate and energy policies in their territory. This data allows cities to identify the key areas where energy efficiency and renewable energy measures are required in order to decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
