Eight New Airlines Launch Operation at Tbilisi Airport

January-September period has recorded 23% upturn in passenger turnover at Georgian airports.

The reporting period registered 2 181 684 passengers transported, up 103% compared to the same period of 2012. Market ratios of airports are as follows: Tbilisi International Airport – 79.1%, Batumi International Airport – 12,4%, Kutaisi International Airport – 8,4% and Mestia Airport – 0.14%.

It should be noted that eight new airlines launched operation at Tbilisi international airport. Keti Aleksidze, head of Association of Airports, noted that three new airlines will start flights in November to Ashkhabad, Rostov and Kiev.

Turkmenistan Airlines will perform three flights a week to Ashkhabad, low-cost Pobeda airline will perform two flights to Rostov and Dart airline will perform two flights a week to Kiev. At this stage, 34 airlines operate at Tbilisi International Airport. As reported, five new airlines launched operation at Tbilisi Airport in 2016 – Qeshm Air, Ata, El Al, Taban Airline, Zagros Airlines to four new directions – Isfahan, Dam-am, Beijing and Bahrain.
