Economy Minister Forecasts $1.6 billion FDI Inflows in 2016

Georgian Economy Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili expects the country to draw 1.6 billion USD foreign direct investments (FDI) in 2016.

The Minister made the statement for Rustavi 2 TV company. In 2013-2016 the country attracted 1.418 billion USD on average, while in 2009-2012 FDI inflows made up 872 million USD, amid the 4 billion USD assistance.

“In 2013 the country drew 941 million USD FDI, 1.758 billion USD in 2014, 1.351 billion USD in 2015, while this year we expect to attract 1.6 billion USD FDI.

Even if we draw only 1.4 billion USD, the averaged growth in 2013-2016 period will be 54%, but if we fulfill the planned forecast, the growth indicator will be 62%”, the Georgian Economy Minister noted.
