Deutsche Bahn to Engage in the Development of Georgian Transport Corridor

Georgian and German transport companies are deepening the cooperation. A memorandum has been signed between Georgian Railway and German company Deutsche Bahn.

The ceremony was attended by the First Vie-Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

The document envisages development of cooperation of Georgian and German  transport companies into two directions – Trans Caspain rout, which means cargo transportation between China and Europe. The second – cargo shipment to Iran and Persian Gulf via Georgia.

As of the initiative of Georgian Railway, they plan to bring Deutsche Bahn in the transport sphere, the company is one of the biggest operator of block-trains of China and Europe.

The sides are agreed to use Georgian corridor as one of the best alternative for cargo transportation to any direction. German side has expressed desire actively to participate in the development process of the corridor.
