Davitashvili Sees the Risk of Cannibalization by Selling the Land to Foreigners

Minister of Agriculture does not consider accurate direct alienation of agricultural lands without any liabilities for non-residents.

Levan Davitashvili stated on more responsibilities linked to the issue, extortion consumption and high risk of resource cannibalization at the seminar in Kvareli. He drew attention to the expansion of market for agro products’ export by opening of the EU door, as well as increased opportunities for the exporters, preferential taxable regime, which is better for the locals to benefit.

At the same time, the Minister has also taken the practice of investment activity in agriculture in the previous years, whether it is worth to make risks by a certain liberal model. He has noted that he does not remember high activity of foreign investors and successful investment projects before a moratorium.

Levan Davitashvili said that the Ministry of Justice is working on the law of alienation a land to foreigners. The Ministry of Agriculture only examines and prepares the relevant conclusion.
