China will Transport Cargo to Belgium via Georgia

The container train ‘Viking’ will transport cargo from China to Belgium in July-August.

According to Javid Gurbanov, head of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, two trains will use Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The cargo will arrive in Poti Sea Port and the cargo will be distributed at the place, part of the cargo will be sent to Belgium by project VIKING.

The major logistics company DHL will be involved in cargo transportation. Georgian Railway has become a member of VIKING Train from April, 2015 at the meeting held in Vilnius.

Combined transport train VIKING Train represents joint railway project of Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Turkey. It connects maritime container chain of Baltic region to the similar systems the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The piggyback ‘Viking’ train project was launched in February 6, 2003.
